Why DishCast

Your camera roll is a graveyard of great meals.

Great dishes deserve a better memory. Right now they're buried between screenshots and blurry selfies — unnamed, unfindable, gone.

You already forgot it.

That life-changing cacio e pepe from two summers ago? Gone. Was it the place on 5th or the one by the park?

Star ratings lie about plates.

A 4.2-star place can serve a 10/10 dish and three forgettable ones. Nothing tells you which to order.

Strangers have terrible taste.

You're ordering off the opinions of people you'd never eat with, while the friends whose taste you trust stay silent.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about snapping, sharing and cooking with DishCast.

The basics

What is DishCast?

DishCast is a dish-first food app: you snap the dish you're eating, say whether you'd order it again, share that verdict with friends, and get a recipe to cook it at home. It remembers individual plates, not just restaurants.

How is DishCast different from restaurant review apps?

DishCast rates dishes, not restaurants. A great restaurant can serve one unforgettable plate and three forgettable ones, so DishCast asks a single question about each dish: would you order it again?

Why a percentage?

A dishcast is a personal prediction of how likely you are to love a dish, built from your own verdicts and the people whose taste matches yours. It gets sharper every time you snap.

What is a Gold Star?

A Gold Star marks your single best dish in a category, like burgers, ramen or lobster rolls. Each category has only one, so when a new dish beats it, the Gold Star moves.

Snapping & sharing

How does DishCast know which restaurant and dish I'm eating?

When you snap a photo, DishCast uses your location to find the restaurant and matches the photo against its menu. If it guesses wrong, you can tap to change the restaurant or dish.

Who can see what I share?

Your circle sees your verdicts by default. You choose who's in your circle, and you decide dish by dish whether to share more widely, for example as an Instagram Story or a link.

What does the taste match percentage mean?

Taste match shows how closely your ratings line up with a friend's. A 90% match means you usually love the same dishes, so their “order it again” is a strong signal for you.

Cooking at home

Where do the recipes come from?

DishCast's AI writes a home-kitchen recipe inspired by the dish, using your photo and the menu description. It is an approximation, not the restaurant's actual recipe.

Can I get a recipe from my own food photo?

Yes. The Live recipe feature reads a dish photo and suggests ingredients and steps in about 10 seconds. You confirm each ingredient before the steps unlock.

Do recipes show calories and nutrition?

Yes. Every recipe shows estimated calories, protein, carbs, fat and fiber per serving, plus a few highlights such as "high in protein". The numbers are estimates based on the recipe as written, so they aren't medical or dietary advice.

How does DishCast handle food allergies?

Every recipe lists likely allergens, including hidden ones such as stock, butter or sauces, and asks you to confirm you've checked them before cooking. Because recipes are approximations, always check ingredient labels yourself.

Availability & pricing

How much will DishCast cost?

Joining the waitlist is free. Pricing details will be announced before launch, and waitlist members will hear first.

When and where will DishCast launch?

Launch timing and locations will be announced soon. Join the waitlist and we'll email you as soon as the details are confirmed.

Can I try DishCast today?

Yes, you can try the interactive demo in your browser right now. It walks through signing up, finding a craving, snapping a dish, sharing your verdict and cooking it at home.
